6. The Final Nail In Hulk Hogan's WCW Coffin

In the wrestling world, one may at times here about how someone has worked themselves into a shoot. If looking for a prime example of such a situation, look no further than Bash at the Beach 2000.

For those somehow not aware of this farce, with Hulk Hogan having creative control of his character, Hogan was pushing to defeat Jeff Jarrett at Bash at the Beach to become the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion. For lead writer Vince Russo, he was wanting Jarrett to retain the gold against the Hulkster.

Coming to a compromise of sorts, it was decided that Double J would 'lie down' for Hogan, dropping the title in the process and setting the stage for Hulk to grab a mic and lambast Russo. Likewise, Russo would cut his own worked shoot promo on Hogan, strip him of the title, and eventually lead to the skullet-adorned grappler returning down the line to reclaim that prize.

Instead, Hogan thought Russo went too far with his words - which included labelling Hulk a "piece of sh*t" and a "big, bald son of a bitch" - and genuinely walked out on the company. And there, ladies and gentlemen, Hulk Hogan had very much worked himself into a shoot. So, this was all a work where Russo was supposed to say some nasty words about Hulk, but it became a shoot when Hulk didn't take too kindly to said nasty words.

WCW would be out of business just eight months later, Hulk Hogan would never again appear for the promotion, and this whole incident led to an ultimately-unsuccessful defamation lawsuit from Hogan against Russo.
