HBK was next to play the role of KFC’s mascot in 2017.

Yes, the iconic Shawn Michaels came out on the SummerSlam 2017 Kickoff show dressed up as Sanders. For some reason, despite this reportedly being Ric Flair's gig originally, Shawn still had his timeless entrance track and poses fans had come to know and love.

It was as weird as it sounds, but hey - at least WWE had the sense to keep this away from the main pay-per-view. Can you imagine the uproar had 10 minutes of SummerSlam time gone to Colonel Sanders mimicking HBK (ahem) rather than another Charlotte Flair career retrospective vignette?

Seriously though, this was slightly less tolerable than the Dolph Ziggler vs. Miz stuff. At least that was a post-show oddity filmed only for socials. By contrast, Michaels' dressing up as Dolph dressing up as Sanders was a bizarre visual less than one year on.

Pfft! So much for Dolph copying Shawn.
