9. Who Is Going To Defeat Roman Reigns?

It won't be the Rock, even if that match does end up happening: if it has taken this long just to convince him to work a single date far into the future, he's hardly going to work SmackDown and get interrupted by Austin Theory, is he?

Triple H's "new" WWE, despite playing host to multiple distraction finishes and babyfaces acting like bratty d*ckheads, is still vastly more worthwhile than Vince's. It is far easier to picture somebody like Kevin Owens actually succeeding, and not just floating between the main event and the frivolous comedy of the undercard.

There are options now. Viable options.

For the longest time, it felt as though WWE had no options, which begs another, now irrelevant unanswered question: what did Vince McMahon have in mind?!

He had built the Tribal Chief as a force that could not be conquered before signing Cody Rhodes, who was for a brief time the only feasible option. In the meantime, he normalised Big E and repackaged Drew McIntyre as a wacky Horrible Histories character.

Owens is a clear project pushed with elusive conviction; Cody, already over, is going to be even more of a megastar when he receives the return-from-injury pop; Bobby Lashley is ridiculously over by the standards of the golf course crowds on WWE TV: there are spaces at the table now, but who is actually going to replace Roman at the head of it?
