10 Most Glaringly Obvious WCW Pushes That Never Happened

7. Rey Mysterio

Eric Bischoff never particularly felt masked wrestlers could do anything other than provide a nice little distraction in the middle of the card, or open the show in a spectacular way, heating up the live crowd and setting the tone for any given show. Such disregard for what some of the Cruiserweights could do led to Bischoff booking Rey Mysterio to lose his trademark mask. The idea behind this was that Bischoff felt Rey was more marketable with his face on show, but the decision would prove to be one which would cost WCW money. Joining WWE in 2002, replica Rey Mysterio masks were immediately put on sale, raking in a ton of revenue at the merchandise stand. Why WCW didn't do this is really beyond belief, young children love masks, and Mysterio has always had some of the most colourful ones around. Worse yet, WCW did little to 'market' Rey once he lost the hood.
