Fans who thought that the 2004 Great American Bash couldn't get any worse after Eddie Guerrero lost the WWE Championship to JBL on a technicality were forced to re-evaluate their standards when the main event rolled around. That bout pitted The Undertaker - who had returned to his original persona a few months earlier - against The Dudley Boyz in a handicap match.

As per a stipulation set up for the bout, Undertaker's longtime manager, Paul Bearer, was strapped to a chair inside a glass tank. If Undertaker lost, the tank would be filled with cement, effectively killing the manager.

The bout itself was terrible, with Undertaker - not too far removed from an awful 2003 - having not yet found his groove once again, and The Dudleyz doing a typical lousy job. In the end, The Undertaker pinned D-Von after a Tombstone, seemingly saving Bearer... but not so fast. After giving a short speech about how he needed to end his old alliances, "The Phenom" pulled the lever and buried his only friend in concrete anyway.
