After more than a year of trying to push Roman Reigns into the position of top babyface and failing to get the desired reaction for the star, WWE's decision-makers eventually just gave up. Oh, they didn't decide to turn Reigns heel or anything, they simply made the decision to give Reigns the push they wanted to give him, and damn the fans' reaction.

His ascendance came at WrestleMania 32, where he challenged Triple H for the WWE Championship, and the match was flawed for a number of reasons. First of all, the fans still hated Reigns. Secondly, HHH had been a part-timer for more than half a decade, and not only was a win over him a forgone conclusion for Reigns, but it carried little cachet for him. Finally, the bout sucked.

The half-hour long match came at the end of a six-and-a-half-hour show, meaning that fans were already itching to get out of the stadium. What followed was a plodding brawl that proved that Reigns can only really deliver when in the ring with a great worker, and that Triple H is not a great worker. When Reigns won, the fans were angry, and Triple H had to play to the crowd after the show went off the air to send people home happy.
