10 Most Influential People In Women's Wrestling History
9. Dave Prazak And Allison Danger
In 2005, Dave Prazak and Allison Danger co-founded the all-women's wrestling promotion Shimmer, based out of Illinois. The company was aimed at giving women who wanted more than humiliating and degrading Bra and Panties matches. It was to be home of the best female roster in the country and with the likes of Beth Phoenix, MsChif, Amazing Kong and Daizee Haize competing on the card, it was only a matter of time before they became just that. Titled SHIMMER Women's Athletes, the company wowed fans and proved to the harshest critics of women's wrestling that female workers were equally as talented and capable of delivering legitimately great matches as any male could. Today, the women of NXT steal the headlines but they earned the reputations that eventually got them noticed by Triple H and company during their time on the independents and, more specifically, SHIMMER. Bayley, Emma, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay all competed for the promotion that Prazak and Danger founded. That is not to mention the main roster competitors who made their presence felt in the company, including Natalya, Paige and Becky Lynch. Even co-head trainer at WWE's Performance Center, Sara Del Rey, established herself as one of the great wrestlers of her generation during her time in SHIMMER. There are a lot of people who will get credit for the development and evolution of women's wrestling over the last 15 years but few have given more independent workers an opportunity like Prazak and Danger, who deserve applause for everything they have done to get women's wrestling to where it is now.
