10 Most Infuriating Roman Reigns WWE Moments
9. That Was Fun While It Lasted - Extreme Rules 2016
After Roman Reigns became WWE Champion at WrestleMania 32, logic would dictate that his first feud come against a heel. Instead, WWE chose to book a program with him and AJ Styles, a fan favorite who was much more popular than Reigns could ever dream of being.
The two clashed in a strong match at Payback, one which set up a rematch for Extreme Rules. That bout was even better - Styles took a beating in and around the ring, falling through tables and generally taking bumps that probably weren't so great for him. As for Reigns, it takes two to have a match that good, and "The Guy" played his role excellently, as well. Your mileage may vary, but I felt it was the best WWE match of 2016.
As the match wore on, though, AJ Styles used just about every major move in his arsenal, all to no effect - Reigns kicked out of everything. Finally, the WWE Champion hit a Spear and scored the three count, and as good as the match was, everybody watching felt like a total fool for believing Styles had a chance of beating Reigns. Instead, it was just business as usual.
