10 Most Infuriating Roman Reigns WWE Moments
5. A Tournament Of Lies - Survivor Series 2015
Following Hell in a Cell 2015, Roman Reigns won a match to become the number one contender to Seth Rollins's WWE Championship. When Rollins went down with a knee injury, though, the title was vacated and a 16-man tournament was held to find a new champion.
At Survivor Series, the semifinals and the finals of the tournament were held, and Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, and Alberto Del Rio were all still in contention. Most people predicted a Reigns-Ambrose final round, and that's what we got - however, instead of a creative finish involving Ambrose turning heel, winning the belt, and emerging as Reigns's main foil, we got an incredibly uninspired bit of booking.
Reigns scored a quick victory over Ambrose, winning his first WWE Championship in relatively unceremonious fashion. Immediately after the match, though, Money in the Bank briefcase holder Sheamus cashed in his shot and won the title, becoming the least likely (and least deserving) champion in a long time.
On the one hand, WWE tried something logical by finally pitting Reigns against someone less popular than him, but the fact that they put themselves into the position in the first place - and had to resort to Sheamus, of all people, for a solution that didn't materialise - showed how bad things had gotten.
