10 Most Infuriating Roman Reigns WWE Moments
4. Rollins Doubles Down - Raw, May 23, 2016
Extreme Rules 2016 may have hit a low point when Roman Reigns beat AJ Styles, but minutes later, fans were cheering again - Seth Rollins, who had been out of action with a knee injury since November of the previous year, ran down to the ring and laid Reigns out with a Pedigree. It was clear that "The Architect" was coming back for the title he never truly lost.
WWE was faced with an important decision in that moment - either they could stick with the plan they had already created, or they could do a double turn. Fans were so excited to see Rollins back that he could have been the biggest babyface on the roster by a mile. As for Reigns, he still wasn't taking as a face, so a heel turn made perfect sense. A feud between the two was inevitable, but a dynamic switch could have made it an actual success.
Instead, the next evening on Raw, Rollins came out and cut a promo making fun of all the fans who had supported him during his injury, telling them that he didn't need their help. Soon after, a WWE 24 special on Rollins's recovery was aired in which the star came off as a total babyface. The company was so afraid of turning Reigns that they completely sacrificed Rollins's momentum.
