8. Harry Smith

Better known as the son of the British Bulldog, Harry Smith should have been a no-brainer for WWE. He was re-signed after a decade away from the company earlier this April… only to be bounced seven months later.

Smith reportedly was slated to be a top star in NXT UK, but instead was targeted for SmackDown, where he wrestled exactly one dark match in July before this week’s cuts. Worse, his release came during a WWE tour of the UK, making it even more baffling.

It’s not like Bulldog Jr. was tainted by NXT 1.0 or was an unknown quantity. He easily could have filled a veteran role, either as an Intercontinental/United States Championship contender or a tag title challenger, or even as an upper-card threat.

Instead, his big WWE return highlight was inducting his father into the WWE Hall of Fame.
