8. He Suffered A Potentially Career-Ending Injury During A Backstage Segment
The Legend: That Goldberg's career almost ended when he suffered an injury during a backstage angle. The Evidence: On the December 23rd 1999 episode of Thunder, Goldberg rushed backstage in pursuit of the nWo limo, pounding on the hood of the vehicle and smashing the windows with his fists. Everything was going fine until he punched out the third window. Bleeding heavily from his forearm, it was clear that something had went wrong. Speaking about the incident, Goldberg claims that:
It was a pure act of rage. Thats all It was. I got in a confrontation with Scott Hall earlier in the night. I wanted to rip his head from his body and I took it upon myself to do something absolutely ignorant and go on the fly and try and be superman, and I unfortunately got hurt throughout the process.
Many people assumed it was WCW's idea for him to punch the windows out but Goldberg has admitted that it was his own doing. Is It True: Yes, this stunt almost cost Goldberg his arm. He was one centimetre out from losing it. Goldberg had to be rushed to a nearby hospital following the broadcast where he was patched up. He would need to take five months out to recover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9hctehAHKA
