At first, neither Steve Austin nor Brian Pillman especially wanted to be in a regular tag-team. Shoved together in early-1993, the duo were left with no other choice by management, who clearly didn't really know what to do with either man individually. Indirectly, this led to a 10-month run as one of the greatest duos in WCW history.

Deciding to put their all into the idea, Austin and Pillman started wearing matching ring gear and jackets. They also began going under the name, 'The Hollywood Blondes'. According to Austin, it was Raven who helped the pair find their identity, even though they both realised they needed something to help them stand out from the pack.

Infamous skits such as mocking Ric Flair's, 'A Flair For The Gold' segment (replacing 'Gold' with 'Old') led to the team eliciting super heat from fans. Relatively quickly, Austin and Pillman seemed to recognise that they had an incredible ability to play irritating villains who could poke fun at other veterans on the WCW roster.

It made for highly entertaining television, and the team even held the WCW Tag-Team Titles on a single occasion. It wasn't built to last in the eyes of management, but The Hollywood Blondes proved a truly successful experiment.
