10 Most Pointless WWE Returns
1. Vader
Jonathan Coachman, not for the first time, found himself in a difficult spot in October 2005. Faced with the task of fighting Stone Cold Steve Austin in a Taboo Tuesday Street Fight, the former announcer decided that he needed a pair of heavies to stand his corner.
So who did he choose? Soon-to-be World Tag Team Champions Big Show and Kane, perhaps? Or maybe Chris Masters and Snitsky? What about Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch - surely their services could be bought for a nominal fee?
In fact, Coachman turned to Goldust and Vader, both returning from WWE hiatuses which, in the case of the latter, had lasted more than seven years. The main justification here seemed to be that both of them were around the last time Austin was relevant, but in terms of actually helping Coach fend off his inevitable ass-kicking, it was a bit of a long shot.
In the end, none of that really mattered though, because the Texas Rattlesnake was replaced at the last minute by Batista, making the return of Vader - who was released again shortly thereafter - almost entirely pointless.
