10 Most Polarizing Wrestlers Working Today
9. Kazuchika Okada
When all is said and done, Kazuchika Okada will go down as one of the greatest to ever step foot in the ring.
Chosen as the standard bearer for NJPW after Hiroshi Tanahashi dragged the company out of the doldrums in the early 2010s, Okada proved more than capable of filling his illustrious predecessor's boots. After decisively defeating Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 10, Okada went on an absolute tear, producing more 5-star classics in his 2 1/2 year reign than most wrestlers manage over their entire careers. This is the Okada his fans rhapsodize about to this day - an imperious, unmissable talent whose presence made NJPW the hottest promotion on the planet.
Sadly, that's not the same Kazuchika Okada who turned up in AEW.
Since jumping ship to Tony Kahn's company, it's felt like Okada left a considerable portion of his talent back in his old promotion. AEW fans have only been shown glimpses of the former NJPW champion's potential, as his ring work has failed to come close to the Olympian heights of his matches in Japan. Heck, even his clash against fellow GOAT contender Bryan Danielson was a mild disappointment, like being given a fancy shaving kit for Christmas.
For NJPW fans, Okada will always be remembered as one of the greats. For AEW fans, he's simply another good worker in a company full of them.
