10 Most Random AEW Appearances
1. Satoshi Kojima
Like Yuji Nagata before him, Satoshi Kojima is one of New Japan's resident oldies. The bread-loving two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion was just under two weeks away from his 51st birthday when he wrestled Jon Moxley at All Out.
The nature of where, exactly, the match took place is what makes Kojima's sole AEW appearance all the more unanticipated. This was All Out, AEW's biggest show of the calendar year as it is, but crucially, the event where CM Punk was wrestling his first match in almost a decade and where Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole were both penned for surprise debuts.
In other words, the card had a ton to live up to, doing just that with what is often heralded as the developing promotion's greatest-ever show.
CM Punk vs. Darby Allin, the Lucha Bros vs. the Young Bucks, and Chris Jericho vs. MJF were the key matches on the Kenny Omega vs. Christian Cage-headlined card, leaving much of the undercard a blip on the mind of any AEW fan. Jon Moxley vs. Satoshi Kojima, although a match reminiscent of the King's Road style in execution, will be the match preventing you from obtaining a full score during a trivia quiz.
Oh yeah, and Minoru Suzuki rocked up post-match. Summer and fall 2021 AEW is peak professional wrestling.
