10 Most Random AEW Appearances
3. Crowbar
Professional wrestling has various groups of active performers, but one of the strangest encompasses those who, although considered major names several years ago, now serve as nostalgia acts. It doesn't happen in any other sport. It would be like if Shaquille O'Neal decided to have one last season as a basketballer.
It might be mint - but it might be utter sh*te.
Crowbar is one of those names and he wasn't even a big deal. He was a career midcarder at best, managing one reign apiece with the WCW World Cruiserweight, Hardcore, and World Tag Team Championships. In 2022 alone, he's wrestled Matt Hardy, appeared on pay-per-view as part of the Ric Flair's Last Match card, and made a one-off return to IMPACT Wrestling.
2021, meanwhile, saw Crowbar added to the endless list of wrestlers that have competed across AEW's YouTube programming. He lost to company alum Joey Janela on the 11 October-aired Dark: Elevation, the match having been taped in Philadelphia, the old home of Extreme Championship Wrestling where Crowbar - as Devon Storm - had been a regular fixture throughout 1996.
Yes, despite dying its death over two decades ago, every wrestling promotion holding an event in Philadelphia must follow the ECW nostalgia act code of conduct. Not even AEW is immune unfortunately.
