10 Most Ridiculous ECW Gimmicks

2. The bWo

At the November To Remember 1996 event, the Blue World Order was formed. Consisting of Stevie Richards, Nova and The Blue Meanie, the trio were a direct parody designed to poke fun at WCW's hot concept, the New World Order. In order to do this, each member had their own nickname. Richards was 'Big Stevie Cool', and he was joined by 'Hollywood' Nova and 'Da Blue Guy'. Immediately, ECW fans enjoyed the comedic elements of the stable. In hilarious fashion, they also mimicked the nWo by adding the 'bWo Japan' group, consisting of Taka Michinoku, Terry Boy and Dick Togo. The gimmick was responsible for raising Richards up to the top of the ECW cards, people couldn't get enough of those bWo t-shirts. So popular was the gimmick that it even became part of WWE years later. That goes to show how well-received it was the first time around by ECW fans, who wouldn't miss any opportunity to direct laughs at what was going on in both WCW and the WWF. The bWo was ridiculously overblown, but also highly entertaining.
