In 1999, Vince McMahon's Corporation was feuding with The Undertaker's Ministry. The two factions were battling it out for the whole world to see and for a change, Vince was on the other side of the fence as a protagonist. The war between he and Stone Cold Steve Austin had even slowed down a little as Austin had rescued Stephanie from Taker's clutches. This was the first time that Austin and McMahon were on the same page and it was also the first time that fans felt comfortable supporting Vince as a babyface character. It seemed that the Chairman had finally turned a corner and was doing the right thing for his family and the fans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQfzp9qCing So when The Undertaker announced that there was a mystery man behind the scenes, a shadowy figure pulling the strings of his operation, fans had no reason to suspect foul play. Vince was with them after all and this character would be someone else altogether. That was not the case though, as Vince was indeed revealed to be the Higher Power. Vince reveled in the moment, delivering a heel promo as only he could. The evil Mister McMahon was back and his return not only formed The Corporate Ministry, it also brought incredible hatred from the WWE audience that despised him for turning on his own family.
