10 Most Shocking WWE Wellness Policy Violations
5. Randy Orton
Randy Orton's suspensions from WWE as a result of the company's Wellness Policy are quite a bit more complicated than the other Superstars listed here. The one-time youngest WWE Champion in WWE history was suspended in 2006 for what was believed to be a failed drug test. However, it was later blamed on "unprofessional conduct" and Orton has since said that he was "behaving in a way that was not appropriate for a professional athlete to behave."
The following year, the aforementioned Sports Illustrated investigation revealed that Orton was among the athletes buying illegal drugs online but WWE claimed those allegations preceded the introduction of the Wellness Policy in February 2006. The timing was all a bit suspect and fans have never been able to escape the feeling that there was more to all of that than met the eye.
Regardless, when 2012 rolled around, Orton was suspended for a second time and it's rumoured that he tested positive for marijuana. Losing The Viper for two months came as a blow to WWE, especially as Chris Jericho had only just been sent home for disrespecting the Brazilian flag at a non-televised live event. Orton ultimately returned to feud with Dolph Ziggler but quickly moved back up the card and never got that dreaded third strike.
