10 Most Shocking WWE Wellness Policy Violations
4. Umaga
WWE was keen to make Umaga a top star in the company and it's not hard to see why. With a unique look, a storied Samoan heritage, and an exciting in-ring style, he had all the makings of a killer heel who could entertain fans for years to come. Unfortunately, his first Wellness Policy suspension came as a result of the Signature Pharmacy scandal and may very well have played a role in his undefeated streak gimmick being dropped.
Two years later, Umaga received his second strike and a refusal to enter rehab saw WWE cut ties with him. A brief stint on the independent circuit followed but less than six months later, his story took a tragic turn.
Travelling the world as a wrestler with no one to police his habit, Umaga continued to abuse his body and ultimately died of a heart attack brought on by an acute toxicity of multiple substances. This just goes to show how serious things can get and while Umaga had a number of health issues related to drug abuse, a stint in rehab may very well have saved his life.
