10 Most Significant Women's Matches In WWE History
5. WWE Women's Championship Hardcore Match: Trish Stratus Vs. Victoria (Survivor Series 2002)
Until the PG era arrived, gimmick matches for women had largely been embarrassing. Bra and Panties and Lingerie matches were a common feature of WWE programming around the turn of the century and thankfully that period has been consigned to the history books.
To even consider putting two women in a hardcore match at this time seemed like pure fantasy booking. In 1999 Tori and Ivory did have a hardcore match but it was nothing compared to this between Trish Stratus and Victoria at the 2002 edition of Survivor Series.
This intense rivalry had a brutal and sadistic build-up signifying Victoria as a top female heel whilst Trish was the babyface, trying not to succumb to her mind games. Once again, this match isn't perfect but it does feature some truly wince-inducing spots, which resulted in Victoria getting a bloody nose. This didn't stop her capturing the championship and holding it until WrestleMania, four months later.
