10 Most Significant Women's Matches In WWE History
3. WWE Women's Championship: Trish Stratus Vs. Lita (Raw, 06/12/2004)
Four years after the first women's main event on Raw and 12 years before Sasha Banks and Charlotte's chance in the same spot, came this match. Lita and Trish is probably the greatest rivalry in all of women's wrestling and this remains one of their best encounters.
Taking place in North Carolina, Lita was the hometown hero attempting to topple the now-villainous Trish. The blonde Canadian does everything within her power to see off her foe, including the use of a face protector as a weapon.
This is also the infamous match where Lita, nearly breaks her neck after a botched suicide dive. Even to this day, watching that spot still gives you an unsettling feeling. Thankfully it wasn't fatal, and Lita overcame Trish to hit a moonsault and claim only her second women's championship. Both women are now deserving members of the Hall of Fame and it's landmark moments like this which helped get them there.
