10 Most Surreal Moments In UFC History

8. Anderson Silva Breaking His Leg

If the first bout between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman was surreal for the circumstances in which it ended, the rematched eclipsed it by having a conclusion possibly more shocking than that of any mixed martial arts bout.

In the aftermath of Weidman's shocking upset victory, many fans and analysts alike were quick to diminish the American's achievements by pointing out that Silva had been caught while showboating, and wouldn't make the same mistake when they next fought.

Though Weidman had dominated the majority of the first fight, Silva had enjoyed continued success in the fight with hard chopping leg kicks that served to break up the boxing-heavy combinations of his opponent.

Weidman later explained that he was aware of Silva's success with low kicks, and had worked extensively to better defend them when the pair next met in the Octagon.

When the two squared off again at UFC 168, Weidman dominated the first round utilising his superior grappling and evaded much of Silva's output on the feet.

Then, during the second round, Weidman checked one of Silva's leg kicks causing Silva's tibia and fibula to break and ending the fight.

Not only was this fight surreal for the bizarre ending but also for the sight of the once-unstoppable Silva laid in the Octagon screaming in agony as he realised the extent of his injuries.
