9. Chris Weidman Ending Anderson Silva Title Reign In Violent Fashion
Anderson Silva's 16 fight winning streak from his UFC debut in 2006 was nothing short of legendary.
The Spider had entered the US with relatively little fanfare. Though he was known as a flashy striker, Anderson had shown that he could be outhustled by otherwise unspectacular opponents, and, as a result, few could have predicted the impact the Brazilian would have on the UFC.
Silva embarked on a streak that would prove all his doubters wrong in the years that followed, comprehensively defeating everyone that stood across the cage from him and cementing his place as the greatest fighter in the history of the sport at 185lbs.
When Silva faced Chris Weidman at UFC 162 in 2013, the Brazilian was now 38 years old, and while his performances in the Octagon hadn't appeared to have suffered, it seemed inevitable that one of his opponents would eventually solve the puzzle he posed.
However, no one could have imagined just how violently Silva's reign would come to an end.
With Weidman's grappling credentials most analysts assumed the New Yorker would employ a strategy similar to Chael Sonnen's at UFC 117, neutralising Silva's strikes with a non-stop wrestling offensive.
Ultimately though, Silva's reign would end in dramatic fashion. While Silva was characteristically showboating, Weidman threw a perfect left-hook that dropped Silva to the mat and followed up with ground and pound.
Seeing the once-invincible Spider unconscious was a sight that few fans will soon forget.
