10 Most Underrated WWE Matches Of 2014

2. Hornswoggle vs. El Torito - WeeLC Match (Extreme Rules)

When Hornswoggle and El Torito ran across the stage at the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, everyone dreaded where it was headed. It wasn't long after that Hornswoggle and El Torito were trading wins on WWE TV, and the matches felt like complete wastes of time. 'Swoggle and especially Torito are impressive athletes in their own right, but a majority of WWE's audience have no desire to see midgets wrestling regularly on Raw. It's part of what makes Raw a three hour circus every Monday night. But somehow, they managed to turn a negative into a positive by having one of the most fun matches of the year. El Torito and Hornswoggle were tied at one win apiece, and thus a rubber match was in order. They were scheduled to face off at Extreme Rules, but not in any ordinary match. They were going to have the first ever WeeLC match (essentially, a TLC match for midgets). It seemed like the stupidest gimmick match on paper, but in execution, it was amazing. The addition of the midget commentators at ringside was slightly silly, but the match itself was extraordinarily entertaining. 'Swoggle and Torito were taking high risk after high risk and were making good use of all the weapons around ringside. Even the other members of 3MB and Los Matadores got involved and enhanced the excitement of the match. When all was said and done, Hornswoggle and El Torito proved they were more than just comedy characters. They're wrestlers, regardless of their size. And it didn't deserve a nomination for LOL Moment of the Year at the Slammy Awards. It could have been in the Match of the Year category and not been out of place.
