10 Most Underrated WWE PPV Main Events Of The 2000s
9. Kurt Angle Vs. Brock Lesnar Vs. The Big Show - Vengeance 2003
The first (U.S.) Smackdown only pay-per-view was a doozy and demonstrated just how far ahead of Raw they were at the time. The event out-performed Raw's Bad Blood from the month before in the ring and at the box-office, generating 322,000 buys to the Raw shows 285,000. The card had a little bit of something for everyone. It started with a wrestling clinic between Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit in the United States Championship tournament final, had a wacky APA bar-room-brawl, a lost classic tag match between Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio and The World's Greatest Tag Team and a couple of McMahon gimmick matches to boot (Sable versus Steph and Vince versus Zach Gowen). The event was capped off by a superb but seldom-championed triple threat match between Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar and The Big Show. The match marked the restart of the Angle/Lesnar feud. Angle had been out for four months with a neck injury while Lesnar feuded with Show and Cena. Adding Show to the match made for an interesting dynamic. Angle and Lesnar did their usual water-right suplex based stuff while show brought his power game. Watching this reminds you just how good Lesnar, Angle and Smackdown was in 2003. Wonderful.
