10 Most Underrated WWE PPV Main Events Of The 2000s

8. John Cena Vs. Bobby Lashley - Great American Bash 2007

If you want an example of two men who were hated by the IWC in the 2000s look no further than Bobby Lashley and John Cena. Both had large physiques and were perceived as being given preferential treatment and big pushes because of that and in spite of a perceived lack of 'wrestling ability'. Which was nonsense, of course. Cena had been involved in countless great matches since 2003 and Lashley had shown that he could deliver the goods in 2006 while working with the likes of Booker T and Finlay on Smackdown. The question was: would they be able to have a decent main event together at the 2007 Great American Bash? The answer was 'yes'. Lashley and Cena, whom some believed could only be carried by superior workers, had a great 1980s style power match. Both men deserve extra credit because they were both babyfaces going in (although the male contingent of the fan base treated both like heels) and didn't have that much of a storyline to work with. Unfortunately for Lashley, he suffered a serious injury soon after this and then left the WWE in early 2008. Had he stayed healthy and continued to deliver in main events like this, who knows where Lashley would be now?
