10 Most Underrated WWE Promos From The Last Decade

9. Matt Hardy Steps Up

It seems fans either straight-up loved or hated the Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy program. While it might be difficult determining whether the story was worthy of WrestleMania or not, the build-up provided some great opportunities to deliver a breakout promo (for Matt especially). They were given a platform to do some great work, and the elder Hardy knocked it out of the park. With Jeff Hardy already entrenched in the main event scene by this stage, it was somewhat surprising to see Matt carrying the feud from the outset. With Jeff playing the role of the victim of a jealous brother, it was up to Matt to bring the quality promos that would make the story feel believable. He had to get people emotionally invested in the storyline. Matt Hardy's first promo since turning on brother Jeff at the 2009 Royal Rumble started off with the predictable recap you would expect, though things quickly began to take an unusual turn. Rather than painting himself as the jealous brother as was expected, Matt justified his attack by claiming that "all the pain and suffering that Jeff put me through for so many years was transferred right back to him". The story itself wasn't ground-breaking, but Matt's ability to depict his emotions so well was somewhat unexpected and made the feud seem very real. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bdyq4fE5Q_Y

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
