10 Most Underrated WWE Promos From The Last Decade
6. William Regal's Last Hurrah
This one may read as more of a career summary than a promo description but it is warranted in this case. I'll go out on a limb and say William Regal is the single most underrated microphone worker in WWE since the turn of the millennium. Further to having an incredible grasp of heel and face traits on top of the aforementioned verbal abilities and obvious technical wrestling prowess, Regal has managed to maintain a position within WWE since 2000, having previously worked for the company from 1998 until 1999 as well. Four WCW titles, 15 WWE titles, 2008 King of the Ring winner, Commissioner, Raw General Manager and now NXT General Manager. Speaking in kayfabe terms, Regal is one of the most celebrated wrestlers to ever perform in the company, despite not winning a World championship. As for the promo, Regal's last competitive match in NXT came in December of 2013 against Cesaro, and while the match itself was an excellent showing, William Regal's final chat beautifully summarised his WWE career, referencing his struggles with drugs and alcohol (both of which he overcame), while also making a full recovery from a heart defect. With all of that crammed into two minutes, Regal still managed to put Cesaro over while bidding a very fitting farewell. You are watching a master at work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4zmenHmjxk
Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
