Chris Jericho's return to the WWE at the start of 2012 led him directly into a feud with WWE Champion CM Punk heading into WrestleMania XXVIII. Pittinng two of the greatest mic men in the company against each other was a recipe that created promo gold. The whole feud was loaded with verbal highlights, with both Punk and Jericho aiming to one-up the other in a battle for microphone supremacy, as well as the WWE Championship. Unfortunately, a significant amount of their feud has been forgotten due to the high-profile "Once in a Lifetime" (yeah right) WrestleMania main event between John Cena and The Rock. With WWE committing most of its advertising space to one marquee match, both the Punk/Jericho and Undertaker/Triple H matches and build-ups seemed lukewarm in comparison. Nevertheless, looking back at CM Punk and Chris Jericho's feud, from Jericho's return on the first Raw of 2012 through to Extreme Rules in April, is a must for lovers of quality mic work.
