10 Most Unsuccessful WWE Returns Of All-Time

2. D'Lo Brown

Most people likely couldn't even tell you that D'Lo Brown was brought back to WWE in 2008. That was how forgettable the run was, regrettably.

A decade earlier, Brown entertained audiences during the Attitude Era with his unmistakable mannerisms and above-average in-ring ability. He was a memorable member of the Nation of Domination and could have been a successful singles star had WWE been more motivated to push him on his own.

Although it was several years later, they had their chance when he re-signed with the company in 2008. In one of the most random returns in modern history, he was introduced as the mystery opponent for Santino Marella before beating him in decisive fashion.

He received an Intercontinental Championship shot against Marella a short time later, but fell short of victory thanks to interference from Marella's then-girlfriend Beth Phoenix.

And that was it. Seriously, that was it. He may have had one more match on WWE TV against Mike Knox several months later and was squashed in the matter of a minute, but other than that, Brown rarely appeared on programming.

He was released in January 2009 as a cost-cutting measure, putting an end to what can only be described as a fairly pointless run overall.
