10 Most Unwanted Records In WWE Royal Rumble History
2. Most Sub-60-second Appearances
Faarooq: 4 (1997, 2000, 2001 and 2002)
Of all the things to avoid in a Royal Rumble outing, a quick elimination is probably near the top of most participants’ no-go list. Much has been made of these flash-in-the-pan outings, namely the Warlord’s two-second stint from 1989, which remained the shortest ever until Santino Marella came along in 2009.
Of course, some entrants have been unfortunate enough to be eliminated in double-quick time on more than one occasion—including Marella himself. Along with Shelton Benjamin, Zack Ryder, and The Godfather (under multiple gimmicks), Marella has been eliminated inside one minute on three separate occasions, but that’s not quite the most in WWE history.
That title goes to poor old Faarooq, who never seemed to quite get the hang of the Royal Rumble format. In 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2002 he lasted less than a minute before being given his marching orders, a tally that no one else has since been able to match.
I’m sure Faarooq’s feeling can be summed up in a certain four-letter word…
