10 New Directions For AEW After Double Or Nothing 2024

4. MJF Becoming AEW's Sting To The Elite's nWo

Kane circa 2012 would be well proud, because the returning MJF said he's "driven by hate, hate, hate". Friedman got one of the biggest pops of the night, dispatched Adam Cole (surely another match between them is in the pipeline once Cole is healthy?) and proved he's still untouchable on the mic.

MJF even revealed a brand new AEW tattoo that says, "Bet On Yourself". Then, he said he won't be going anywhere else, and added: "You can call me the wolf of wrestling". Sure, or the new Sting. One can see Max sticking up for Tony Khan in this war against The Elite.

He may well become AEW's version of Sting from the 90s once the nWo started running roughshod over WCW. In other words, he's the best candidate to stop Hulk Hogan and The Outsi...sorry, The Young Bucks, Jack Perry and Kazuchika Okada. Yeah, The Elite don't actually compare favourably to the nWo, do they?

Another World Title reign beckons for MJF eventually, 'cause he's simply too good to ignore for long. There's a magnetism to the man's mic work that few others in wrestling can match - there's certainly nobody else in All Elite Wrestling who can meet him halfway on promos.
