10 New Directions For AEW After Worlds End 2023

6. Plans For The Next Continental Classic

Well, the Continental Classic was awesome eh?

Eddie Kingston won the inaugural version at Worlds End. In doing so, he retained his ROH Title and NJPW Strong Openweight belt. Plus, Eddie grabbed hold of the brand new Continental Title too, and is the first winner of AEW's new Continental (Triple) Crown. His heart must be bursting with pride.

It was a killer moment, but management must already be plotting the next CC. There's no rush on sorting out brackets, obviously - this isn't something AEW has to do during the first half of 2024, or anything. Being honest, they should only run one of these tournaments once per year at most.

Khan will need to drum up a fresh prize for the next one too. Serving up the Triple Crown was nice and all, but perhaps turning the Classic into a World Title number one contendership round robin ahead of a tentpole event like All In/Full Gear would suit.

Or, y'know, run Worlds End as an annual celebration of Japanese wrestling culture.
