10 New Directions For WWE After SummerSlam 2016
6. Big E Singles Run
I’m not necessarily saying that this is a direction that the
company should be taking, but events at SummerSlam will certainly have provided
some food for thought on this one.
Returning from his nasty bout of ringpostitis, Big E came back for the end of the Tag Team Championship match between the New Day and Gallows & Anderson and he absolutely cleaned house in the process.
Not only that, but the crowd were eating up every minute of
it. His emergence itself prompted a huge pop, and there were equally wild cheers for every body-check and belly-to-belly suplex he dished out to his one-time tormentors.
The return was so satisfying, in fact, that it probably made up for the DQ finish that many would have otherwise been upset about.
For the time being, I don’t see any reason why they should be in a hurry to split the New Day up. Should they decide that’s an option they want to take, though, the evidence we saw at SummerSlam would suggest that Big E especially is more than capable of breaking out and making it as a top, singles babyface competitor.
