10 Non-AEW Stars Who Should Challenge For The TNT Championship

2. Jeff Cobb

Zack Ryder TNT Champ
AEW

Beast of beasts, Hawaiian Hulk, the true Eater of Worlds. Jeff Cobb is a unique talent. The former Lucha Underground Champion oozes credibility and with good reason, such is his Olympic pedigree and undeniable physical dominance. Jeff Cobb has already appeared on AEW Dynamite, a brief two-week visit as Chris Jericho's hired gun, a roadblock on Jon Moxley's road to the AEW World Championship.

Truth be told, Jeff Cobb has underachieved to date, although a portion of the blame for that can be placed at the door of those with the booking pen. The aforementioned Lucha Underground got it right, booking Cobb (well, The Monster Matanza Cueto, to be accurate) as a terrifying monster from the get-go. Cobb's forays into NJPW have hinted at what could be, while Ring Of Honor started well but eventually went the way of most things-ROH in the modern age.

Bringing Jeff Cobb back to AEW presents a number of issues, but defeating Cody for the AEW TNT Championship solves most of them. Having Cobb return only to lose again will paint the former ROH TV Champion as a loser, and a man of Cobb's ability deserves more. There is a certain inevitability about his eventual return to New Japan, but what price a short run as TNT Champion in the meantime?
