10 Notable WWE Releases Who Are Still Available To Be Signed
1. Bray Wyatt
This one defies logic.
On 31 July 2021, Bray Wyatt was given his walking papers.
One of pro wrestling's most innovative minds today, Windham Rotunda created one of its most captivating characters TWICE in the course of six years and gave WWE carte blanche to print both merchandise and revenue. Yet despite more than a decade and two major reinventions, he was hamstrung by disputes over creative direction, bludgeoned by short-sighted and frequently damaging booking and ultimately discarded with little to no fanfare in the name of "budget cuts".
To be fair, there were some highlights along the way. Chief among them are the Firefly Funhouse Match, Wyatt Family-Shield feud, and anything involving Daniel Bryan Danielson. But these gems are obscured by the smoke of Hell In A Cell 2019, Super Showdown 2020, three world championship reigns lasting a combined six months and two WrestleMania losses to Randy Orton. In short, WWE took a superstar who many had pegged to be the spiritual successor to The Undertaker and buried his prospects alive at almost every turn.
Many expected Wyatt, Erick Redbeard and/or Braun Strowman to make an appearance at AEW's recent Dynamite episode in Rochester as an homage to his recently fallen brother-in-arms, Brodie Lee. While it would have been a beautiful gesture, it didn't quite come to fruition. While Tony Khan insists that the subject of Bray Wyatt signing an AEW contract hasn't been discussed, the fact remains that his no-compete clause expires on October 29.
Somebody, ANYBODY please... Let Him In.
