10 Notable WWE Releases Who Are Still Available To Be Signed
2. Braun Strowman
'Monster Among Men'-sized contract notwithstanding, it's truly astonishing how hard the ball was dropped on Braun Strowman.
Strowman was introduced to the Monday Night Raw audience in a black sheep mask in August of 2015 and while it appeared as though he was the latest in Vince McMahon's long line of lumbering, uncoordinated giants, he was gradually molded into what can best be described as a wrecking ball with legs. By Spring 2017, Braun was easily one of WWE's hottest attractions, due in no small part to his unstoppable, often absurd monster exploits such as flipping ambulances, tearing car doors off hinges, collapsing stage structures with a grappling hook, and tossing Roman Reigns (while strapped to a gurney) off a parking garage balcony--which by 2017 standards was the most popular thing you could possibly do.
Problem was, every single time the Monster got his fingertips within reach of the big prize, Creative got cold feet and deferred to their standby part-time monster, Brock Lesnar instead. By the time WWE finally DID pull the trigger, it was about two years too late. His momentum had stalled and the reign floundered. The largest name of six released on 2 June 2021, Strowman's last nine months were mired in a nothing feud with Shane McMahon and as the third wheel of the Lashley-McIntyre feud.
While he might not be the best fit for every promotion, surely someone (WWE included) recognizes how massive it would be to 'Get These Hands' on their payroll.
