10 Observations From Attending EVOLVE 67 Live
2. Later, Slater
As strange as it sounds, there's one thing that would have gone a long way toward making the main event feel important: a run-in from Heath Slater.
While Slater may not actually be the hottest free agent in wrestling, his recent attempts to get signed by either Raw or Smackdown have been entertaining parts of each show - and the fact that he's not contractually tied down to a brand in storyline means that an EVOLVE appearance could have been logical, if WWE signed off on it. There was certainly some talk to that effect, as EVOLVE's news blasts had mentioned being in negotiations with Slater.
The one thing that has yet to come out of WWE's relationship with EVOLVE is actual physical interference from a WWE talent at an EVOLVE show (Ethan Page trash-talked Sami Zayn during Zayn's Queens appearance, but that's about it). Had Slater run in during the match, it would have been a shock that the fans would have loved - and given his history with Drew Galloway, it would have made storyline sense as well.
Yes, a Heath Slater appearance would have been implausible, but given that Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, and Tyler Breeze all walked through the crowd at one point on their way to the locker room, would it have been impossible?
