10 Odd One Out Wrestling Champions
1. Tessa Blanchard
The Impact World Championship has the most obvious odd one out champion in Tessa Blanchard. Not only shattering Impact's glass ceiling, Blanchard was also the first woman to have a recognised reign with a men's World Championship. The booking provoked fierce debate among the fandom, yet, no fan could deny that it pushed Impact Wrestling to the centre of attention, a place it had not truly occupied since its TNA days.
Blanchard also went down as the company's most controversial World Champion. Shortly after her big win, reports online from former colleagues called Blanchard out for past incidents of racism and bullying that proved a stark contrast to the female empowerment angle that Blanchard rode to championship success.
Blanchard further added to her controversial run with Impact's top prize, refusing to show up for Impact tapings to defend her title. As this was during the pandemic, Blanchard was justified in not wanting to travel from isolating in Mexico with her fiancé. Yet, she allegedly refused to pre-tape content as requested and, after being stripped of the title, she reportedly asked the company for $150,000 to return the championship belt.
