10 Oldest World Champions In Wrestling History

9. Bob Backlund - 45 Years, 101 Days

Date: November 23rd, 1994 Event: Survivor Series Age Of Champion: 45 years, 101 days Like DDP, Bob Backlund came out of nowhere in the 1990's, but with a completely different back story. Backlund was one of wrestling's top talents in the late-70's and early-80's. After leaving the WWF in 1984, he basically left the game to become a high school wrestling coach in Connecticut. In 1992, Backlund would make a surprise return to the WWF, but it would be another two years until he would do anything special. He turned heel on WWF Champion Bret Hart, and would spend the next couple months as a crazed member of the "old school" who was against anything that people viewed as "hip" or "current". It led up to a WWF Title match at Survivor Series between Hart and Backlund. Nobody in their right mind expected to see a title change, but it's exactly what happened. Yes, Backlund's title reign lasted a mere three days. Yes, he lost the title to Diesel in eight seconds. It's the fact that he was the WWF Champion in 1994 at all that makes it a story, though.
