Main Event: Bret vs. Yokozuna

It's incredibly rare that a wrestler will appear in both the opening match and the main event of WrestleMania. (In fact, the only other person besides Bret Hart to do so was Daniel Bryan.) It's just as rare that wrestler outperforms his own main event in the opening match.

But it's easy to see why that happened at WrestleMania X. A comparison of Yokozuna and Owen Hart inside the ring doesn't require a second glance. Owen was the better performer by a long shot, and the chemistry he had with his older brother was second-to-none at the time.

Even setting aside the brotherly tumult that surrounded this match, this was an edge-of-your-seat type of back-and-forth that didn't rely on theatrics or high spots. It was as pure of a match as any two performers have ever delivered, a technical masterpiece on the mat that also managed to maintain a high level of emotion throughout. That's not something you'd see very often in these days

Bret and Yokozuna, on the other hand, was no different than your average scrappy guy versus big man encounter. Yokozuna dominates the early portion of the match, keeping things at a mind-numbingly sluggish pace for far too long. The second half fared better, but it simply can't compete with one of the greatest opening matches of all time.
