10 Outdated WWE Tropes That Need To Go Away
8. The Painfully Slow Ladder Climb
Sure enough, you want the drama to be turned up to eleven at the flag end of a match. For ladder matches, the easiest way to do that is by having wrestlers struggle through immeasurable pain as they make the decisive climb. However, much like everything else on this list, WWE has overused it to the point where it’s borderline insulting to our intelligence.
And we're not only referring to the number of times it gets used, but also how. Towards the end of every single ladder match, you see wrestlers climb each rung like they’re moving 200 pound weights. Despite usually performing a decisive move on their opponent seconds prior, all their strength appears to suddenly disappear. And If you’re Dolph Ziggler, so do your bones.
This also extends to unhooking the title or briefcase or child custody papers once they reach the top. A task that should require no more than five seconds, somehow takes up enough time to allow an opponent to eject the wrestler from their perch. It’s not believable, and it honestly should be stopped.
