10 Overlooked Positives From WrestleMania 32

3. The Cameos Weren't Entirely Throwaway Filler

It's traditional at WrestleManias of the modern era for veritable stars of the past to make guest appearances, run through their routine, hit their finishers, and then bury the current generation's nobodies. And WrestleMania 32 was no different.

However, there was a discernible quantity of substance to their annual cameos this time around. Even just the fact that Shawn Michaels (looking in phenomenal shape) and Mick Foley (also looking in relatively terrific shape) appeared in ring gear elevated their segment above their usual one-off walk-ins. Embarrassing the interminable League of Nations made their appearance extra worthwhile.

Likewise, seeing The Rock strip off to reveal his ring gear for his first 'match' since 2013 added extra spice to an otherwise prosaic promo ostensibly designed to announce the inflated attendance record. Though forced to satisfy WWE's insatiable penchant for setting 'records', the ensuing six-second contest with Erick Rowan at least had a significant impact on the show, regardless of how farcical it was.

And once more: Tatanka. Tatanka!

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
