Austin has openly admitted on many occasions that he regrets the move to turn him heel after WrestleMania 17. Instead, he wishes he had hit McMahon with the stunner moments after they enjoyed a beer together in the centre of the ring. Stone Cold enjoyed his role as an edgy babyface and feels if he had hit the stunner on McMahon, the fans would have still held him in the same regard. This is despite McMahon helping Austin to defeat The Rock with a steel chair to gain the then WWF Championship. It would be interesting to hear the thought process that went behind the move as it almost completely obliterated the previous four years worth of hatred in one match. It would also be interesting to hear Vince's reaction to Austin's regret. Steve wishes he 'called an audiable,' as he puts it, and left his boss floundering in the ring while he celebrated his new championship.
