10 Positives Heading Into WWE Clash Of Champions

5. Acknowledging That Terrible Old Day Segment

A few weeks ago on Monday Night Raw, we saw a segment that some were calling the worst of the year—and they were the generous ones. Others were calling this the worst segment in WWE history, which is really saying something.

I am of course talking about Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson’s “Old Day” parody, which is still available on WWE’s YouTube channel if you’re after your daily dose of cringe.

The following week though, and in something of a very rare occurrence, we actually saw the company acknowledge how poorly this segment went down.

With the New Day in the ring, recapping the events of the previous week’s show, Xavier Woods teased a visual reminder of the segment in question. Thankfully though, it was all a ruse! “Psyche!” cried Big E, “we burned that footage! You’ll never have to see that again”.

“Thank goodness” said Kofi, along with millions of fans around the world.

As well as being an amusing segment (the follow-up, that is, not the original Old Day debacle) this suggested something of a change in the company’s mentality and an increase in self-awareness. If they’re going to put together woeful segments like that Old Day tosh, the least they can do is hold their hands up and acknowledge their error, which is exactly what we saw them do here.
