10 Problems With Booking John Cena Vs Brock Lesnar At WWE SummerSlam
7. Brock's Last In-Ring Effort Was Poor
Sometimes in wrestling, you can get caught up in the occasion when something absolutely huge happens. Whether that's a dramatic entrance, a huge swerve, or simply a result nobody saw coming. As we all know, the latter firmly applies to Brock Lesnar's last action inside a WWE ring, as he ended the undefeated WrestleMania streak of The Undertaker earlier this year. However, what you often forget about matches with huge finishes is the quality of wrestling that actually occurred inside the ring. And if you watch Lesnar vs. The Undertaker back again, it's highly likely you would see just how poor a spectacle it was. You barely needed to know anything about wrestling to determine that it was two part-time guys going at it - both of whom hadn't wrestled for a good few months. It was lumpy and incredibly rusty, and it was only the result that actually saved the entire match. Had Taker won a match of that quality, there is little doubt that it would have been regarded as one of his worst WrestleMania matches - the quality of wrestling was that bad. This isn't about Brock being a mismatch for Cena in this particular instance, it's more about how Lesnar just couldn't pull off a technically awesome wrestling match at WrestleMania XXX. So what on Earth can we expect from Brock this time around? Probably more of the same; he'll have developed a substantial amount of ring rust once again due to his latest hiatus, and he won't even be competing before the match itself - we can all safely assume that. So it seems probable that Brock won't really contribute anything to the contest given his recent track record - and it doesn't look like there will be a dramatic ending to save the show this time around.
