10 Problems With Sheamus As WWE World Heavyweight Champion

5. Lack Of Character Depth

A title win is helped when the performer winning the belt has character depth and has developed as a character over time. Sadly for Sheamus, the most interesting thing about him since his return in April is the fact that his titantron looks like an advert for Visit Ireland.

Try to think of 5 or 10 things about the character of Sheamus and his personality. There€™s nothing there. He€™s from Ireland, he says Fella, he€™s a really good worker but there€™s just nothing else make us care anymore beyond those.

Sheamus is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion but we€™ve never seen vignettes or sit-down interviews that express what makes him tick. Had he had some sort of WWE 24 type piece on him showing his beginnings from Ireland to breaking through and getting to WWE, we€™d care more about him and, in turn, perhaps buy him as the top guy.

In the history of wrestling, the World Champions who got over, drew money and fans either got behind or wanted to see them get their asses kicked, had depth to their character and at the moment, the character of Sheamus is as about as deep as a paddling pool. WWE really need to remedy this, because it's a glaring problem at present.
