The issue going into the Royal Rumble is that it is often very predictable. Even when WWE swerves for the sake of swerving, it makes the situation even worse.

WWE just doesn't do a good enough job of creating fresh contenders for the Royal Rumble match. Looking back at the 2021 Royal Rumble, there was no one in that match who seemed worthy of challenging either Drew McIntyre or Roman Reigns. The only outlier was the eventual winner Edge.

RAW and SmackDown have stacked rosters, so there's no excuse for this. People like Keith Lee and Mustafa Ali should feel just as credible as Bobby Lashley or Seth Rollins. The issue is that WWE wants everyone to look strong and in doing so...no one does.

Simply pick a crop of about 10 men or women and give them wins and motivations. Slowly build momentum until the match itself. When the bell rings, numerous people feel like a threat and every second of the match will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
